Shakespearean Biographies
Shakespearean biography is addictive: bet you can't read just one.
You read a book and you're hooked -- there are so many enigmas surrounding the man and, even if everything were resolved, one would still wonder about the wellspring of such genius. It seems somehow simple to say that such work could have been written by a mere mortal. It is all very well to say -- to paraphrase Jorge Luis Borges -- that Shakespeare was all and none. Some of us, however, feel the need to continue searching for the secret of it all. And that first biography leads to another and another and another.
